Simon's illustrious career spans four decades, predominantly immersed in real estate investment, financing and management. Simon's expertise encompasses evaluating, structuring, financing, and closing transactions of varying scales—from modest endeavors to multi-billion-dollar deals. He has also been responsible for the operation of several medium to large-scale entities, leaving an extensive track record in both public and private sectors.
His real estate journey encompassed leadership roles in one of Canada's largest TSX-listed retail Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) and, more recently, the establishment and leadership of a mid-sized TSX-listed REIT. Simon's outstanding contributions were recognized in 2015 when he emerged as a finalist in the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Awards. This nomination is reserved for individuals distinguished by their vision, leadership, innovation, financial success, personal integrity, and philanthropic efforts within their communities.
Since founding Marigold & Associates in 2015, Simon has pursued acquisitions and developments in all sectors of real estate. His endeavors also extend to substantial consulting assignments in student housing. As CEO of publicly listed companies, Simon has successfully executed transactions exceeding $2.5 billion.
Beyond his corporate roles, Simon serves on boards and advisory committees spanning public and private real estate enterprises, charitable foundations, the Unity hospital network, local riding associations, and, previously, Canada's primary association for public real estate enterprises.
A graduate of Engineering from the University of Warwick and a Chartered Professional Accountant, Simon is married with two children and four stepchildren. Outside of his professional pursuits, he enjoys skiing, cycling, walking with his energetic dog, spending time with family, and curating his wine cellar. Simon's multifaceted engagement reflects not just a career, but a passion for making a meaningful impact in various facets of life.
